About Shelbyville, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Shelbyville is located at the forks of the Little Blue and Big Blue Rivers.  It is the county seat of Shelby County and is located 26 miles southeast of Indianapolis, which is the Indiana state capital.  The town was incorporated in 1850 and named after Isaac Shelby, the first Governor of Kentucky.  Shelby was also a soldier in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.  In the 1830’s, the state’s first railroad was built.  It connected Shelbyville and Indianapolis and later expanded to Madison and Jeffersonville.

Since Shelbyville has a humid continental climate, visitors and residents can enjoy four distinct seasons.  The parks in town, Sunset Park, Morrison Park, Kennedy Park, and Roger Shaw Memorial Park, can be enjoyed year round.  For example, Roger Shaw Memorial Park on the Big Blue River is heavily wooded and covers over 20 acres.  It has 6 miles of mountain bike trails, camping areas, and according to the locals, “The fishing is fantastic.”

Education is provided by Shelbyville Central Schools.  The system has one middle school, three elementary schools, and Shelbyville Senior High School.  Students may also attend St. Joseph Elementary School, a church associated private school.
